Music
At The Milford Academy, we believe it is our responsibility to pass on powerful skills and knowledge to our children. We want children at Milford to be engaged and inspired to develop a love of music. We aim to ensure that all children have access to a range of musical experiences to enable them to realise their talent and passion as musicians. This increases self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. Music also plays an important part in helping children to feel part of a community. As well as being a creative and enjoyable subject, music can also be technically challenging. We therefore aim to deliver a Music curriculum that helps pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of musical skills. Our aim is for the Music curriculum to develop creative thinking skills and to be progressive. The Milford Academy uses organisations such as Charanga and The Nottingham Music Hub to implement a coherent Music curriculum.
At The Milford Academy, we aim to inspire a lifelong appreciation for music by exposing all children to a diverse range of genres from cultures around the world. Through engaging lessons, we encourage students to develop their musical vocabulary and deepen their understanding of both technical skills and theoretical concepts. Pupils are given opportunities for performance that support pupil confidence and self-esteem. By fostering creativity and critical listening, we empower every child to explore and express themselves through music.
Please have a look at the documents below that outline, in detail, the music curriculum our pupils experience.
