Geography
At The Milford Academy, we believe that it is our responsibility to develop young geographers through passing on powerful knowledge to our children. Thus, we aim to deliver a curriculum that blends enquiry with action, fostering a deeper understanding of both the natural world and human existence, encouraging curiosity and reflection on our role within it. Through practical application, this knowledge can lead to a deeper appreciation of the world, encouraging responsible stewardship of the planet.
All children will gain knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and environments, along with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. They will all have the opportunity to learn through fieldwork and trips to gain first-hand experience in order to develop their crucial geographical skills. Through a progressive curriculum from EYFS to KS2, children are encouraged to see geography not just as a collection of facts, but as a subject that helps them understand and analyse the world around them. This provides a natural opportunity to incorporate fieldwork, case studies, and real-world examples that make learning more relevant and applicable to their lives.
Please have a look at the documents below that outline, in detail, the geography curriculum our pupils experience.
